Happy Holidays

With lots of different things going on, I just haven't had time to write Christmas cards this year - many apologises. Life seems extremely busy. So I just wanted to say:

A Very Merry Christmas

I hope that you've had a good year and that whatever you have planned for the holidays you have time for lots of fun, and time to relax too and then have:

A Very Happy and Healthy New Year too.

With love from Aliboo x
and not forgetting TeenBoo and LittleBoo too!

The Wheel's on Fire

Two posts in one week, somewhat of a rarity nowadays!

But the good news is after 43 years I am finally getting an NHS electric wheelchair! Couldn't be a moment too soon. I had my assessment this morning, which ultimately consisted of a driving test. I passed - thank goodness.

So in the weeks to come (I'm assured not months), I will be a proud crip with a brand, spanking new NHS electric wheelchair on loan. They maintain it too, which is a huge relief. All I have to do is buy 3rd party insurance, to cover me, God forbid, in the event I end up causing problems to someones property, or even worse, plough in to someone.

It's a great feeling to know I will be able to go out and about by myself and just get on with life. I live within a 5-10 min wheel of the tram, so the world is my oyster - as long as it's on the tram line!

Anyway, here's a link to the little beauty. BTW, I think she's called Harry:

Can't wait to get an MP3 player and just wheel off into the sunset!

Only 2 more weeks!

Only 2 more weeks and this semester is over! Unbelievable.

I'm up to my eyes in work and thoughts towards assignments and presentations. It's been very frustrating having my time clearly defined and limited by family responsibilities, when all I really want to do right now is get down to some serious study!

I think I've said before that I'm a 'study into the night' kind of person. That's my definite natural rhythm, but again it doesn't work with getting up early with kids who need taking to school and nursery, etc.

I don't want to give the impression I don't love them! I do, very, very much and they are always, and rightly, prioritised. But right now, if I had the choice, I'd just like 2 totally child free weeks, so I could work without distraction and then relax properly after working hard. I'm sure there are millions of parents who feel the same way on countless occasions. But I guess while I'm dreaming, I might as well add, 2 child free weeks, in a warm country, with all the books and reference materials at hand, and of course the food, cultural ambiance, etc, etc. Dream on Aliboo! (or maybe grow up!)

One dream does seem to be materialising though. The good news is that I'm having a wheelchair assessment for an electric wheelchair on Tuesday! I'm so excited. I really need one so I can go out and get around a bit more by myself and on the tram. At 43, I think I am old enough after all. Bought a nice warm coat, hat, scarf and boots in preparation.

Oh well must get on. My to do list is getting longer by the hour, especially with Christmas just around the corner. Just remembered I haven't even had time to 'write up posh' from draft, that DLA form I told you about before. Must do that!

Oh and BTW, I've lost 13.5 pounds in 3 weeks... weigh day tomorrow so may have more to report next week. BFN x
